New Toys!

We got a generous donation of kitty toys and food today. A lot of the toys are holiday themed, so it really looks like Christmas for little Twizzler tonight. I'd say he likes his new toys...

Twizzler meets Mamah!

Twizzler LOVES dogs of all kinds, which is appropriate because he loves everyone! He has been a little lonesome today since all of his siblings adopted last night. So he's going to have to hang out with our pups until some new kitten roomies come to join him in the kitten room tomorrow.

Twizzler is such a happy little man, that he instantly bonded with my terrier Mamah, who thinks that she is his surrogate momma.

They snuggled on the couch with me while we watched some South Park reruns. Twizzler loves the soft fleece blankets and was delighted to be out with us enjoying some cuddle time. Here's a quick video of some puppy kisses. Twizzler couldn't decide who he wanted to nuzzle more - me or Mamah?! He is such a sweetheart!

Friday Adoptions!

Snickers, M&M, and Skittles all found great homes tonight at the Tysons Petsmart adoption event! This is great news, now it's time to focus and Twizzler and find him a special home of his own too!

Hanging with the boys

Today is a little spotlight on my boys. Skittles is always looking up at me adoringly and is the first to nibble my fingers and nuzzle my nose. He is such a love!

Twizzler is truly an inspiration to me. He runs around, always keeping pace with his siblings. He wraps his little paws around my leg and looks up at me with those big green eyes of his while I fix up some pate. He purrs while I pet them and truly nuzzles me everywhere. So much love from such a special boy!

All settled in...

The kittens are all settled in and exploring their new digs...

Snickers is such a brave little one! The first thing she did was scale the toilet and perch where she could see the whole bathroom.

M&M quickly found the soft dog bed and made herself comfortable.

But then there was pate and she decided to give me the pouty eyes.

Skittles rubbed the kitty tree and then started to nuzzle my toes.

Twizzler got comfy, but only after a play session with his favorite toy.

First Adoption Event

The Candy Kittens attended their first adoption event today! They were a little overwhelmed by all of the excitement so they made a comfy kitten pile...

Snickers decided to nap through most of the event and buried her face into my arms. The volunteers nicknamed her miss ostrich.

Cone Heads

The kittens are recovering beautifully after their surgeries! They aren't too sure about these cones though...

Poor little Snickers also had a little piece of membrane removed from her left eye, but she is bouncing around and playing like nothing happened. She takes her eye gel medicine like a good girl and then cuddles in my lap afterwards. She really is a sweetheart!

Meeting the Candy Kittens...

The Candy Kittens we recused from the cold this winter by some good samaritans. They reached out to LDCRF and we were happy to help them find their way to loving homes. Before that could happen, some of the kittens had some medical concerns so they went to see the fabulous Blue Ridge Vets.

Their mother Kit Kat is a beautiful polydactyl  available at the Reston Petsmart. She is a total love!

Momma Kit Kat

Skittles is the biggest kitten in the litter.  He is a polydactal like his momma and a complete sweetheart. He LOVES dinner time, which explains why he is such a big guy! He's going to be a large cat and his heart is proportional to his stature. He has no health issues and is quite a handsome boy.

Skittles, the polydactyl

M&M is a dashing beauty. She has bright eyes and striking markings that simply melt your heart. She has your standard number of toes and no health concerns. Just a pretty lady who loves affection and will gently pat your leg for lovings.

M&M

Two of the kittens, Twizzler and Snickers, were born with deformed feet due to radial hypoplasia. They are often referred to as twisty cats. They walk a little differently than your standard kitten, kind of like they are army crawling in the front, which is appropriate since they are troopers. Their handicap does't slow them down one bit though! They are very mobile, use the litter box just like other kitties, and require no special care due to their handicap. They cannot climb, but can jump very high and will box the heck out of a kitty scratching post. They are the epitome of handicapable! These two are the most outgoing of the four kittens and absolutely love to play. They are even better snugglers! Snickers is the tiniest kitten. She is super fluffy and soft.

Sadly, little Twizzler has a heart condition as well. His life will be short, but the folks at LDCRF are doing our best to guarantee that he is a happy fellow for the remaining time he gives us. Twizzler would also love a forever home where he can know true love and compassion. He is hopeful that there might be a guardian angel out there for him. His adoption fee will be waived and we will be eternally grateful to the beautiful person who understands that some of the sweetest moments are short, but life changing.
